Recommended Posts

When you have an issue or just seeking some advice, and want input from staff/users on the forums please give enough information when initially posting so you can receive the help/feedback that is appropriate and to make sure your thread is posted in the correct forum. If you are posting regarding a version other then the current one i.e. FM20/FMRTE 20 use the archive section.

Please note that the site has recently been updated and both Windows/Mac forums have merged so clearly state what version you are using.

Can you read the guide thread FMRTE Guide which has lots of help and advice. Also the FAQ s covers many questions and tips.

https://www.fmrte.com/forums/forum/130-faqs/

NB some changes in FMRTE only take effect once you have moved the game forward.

Also as per the forum rules can you use the search function to see if this issue has been discussed before, and take a quick look on the bugs forum to see if it has been reported. If there is a bug report you can add to that within the rules please.

It may be better to start your own thread rather than add to the main FMRTE 20 threads, (which are pinned at the top of the forum),  as questions can snowball and take over that thread, and it can be easier later for other users to find when searching looking for answers with similar issues. So it's better to keep it in your own thread.

Use screenshots to assist with your question/issue. I use Gyazo-  Gyazo link it is free easy and quick to use, and if you have a few points don't post as one big paragraph break it up so it's easy to read.

You ALWAYS need to post the version of game/FMRTE you are using, (also if you are using XBOX state that in your OP) this is because in the past we have had people who are using pirated/cracked version of the game /FMRTE and or are S.I. Beta Testers,(as per the forum rules-(f) All users who participate in beta testing for Sport Interactive may receive support from us.  This is at the development team's discretion and they will decide if they wish to code the software to be compatible with FM beta builds.).

After you have received some feedback especially if it is advice can you report back on the thread if that worked for you not just out of courtesy but for future reference for us/other users.

When a thread is closed if users have further comments to add to the thread just PM a mod and we can reopen it at any time.

The below information has to be submitted  in all initial posts.

What is your FM version:(example answer- FM 18.1.2  (1051982, 1051985) I have steam set to offline) clearly state if using TOUCH and its version eg  18.2.0 (1050300, 1050303)

If you have a bug/possible bug please fill in the bug report here-

https://www.fmrte.com/bug-tracker/fmrte/windows/

How to stop game updating etc

The game will get many updates over time(especially in the beta stage) and when it does then The current version of FMRTE will be incompatible for those who did not follow the tips as outlined on the site in the forum rules I will outline again below.

Steam (top left) > Go Offline > Restart in Offline Mode

Besides the above method to stop FM from updating, there is another method that you can do.  Backup the following folder (x = yearly release i.e. 2016, 2017, etc) to another location, however make sure you have enough disk space as this file can be large.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager x

To revert back to the previous version, just copy and paste this folder back into the location that you copied it from, overwriting the current folder.  This method has worked in previous FM versions, however this may change in the future as either Steam or SI can change the way the game is installed to prevent this method from happening.

All users who participate in the SI beta testing option after the full game release will not be able to use FMRTE on their saves as the public/Dev team here do not have access to these builds.  This option is used to test fixes for SI for future releases and may never be released to the public. Support is not given for these builds.

When the game has an update/hotfix etc exercise patience as The Dev team WILL BE  aware and working on an update at their own pace and information will be posted here in due course.

In the meantime keep any posts about it  within the rules

NB The time taken answering posts asking things like when is the patch coming out etc delays the actual release of the update.

There are to be NO NEW THREADS/POSTS asking where is FMRTE? how long until FMRTE is released? or similar posts, otherwise you will be given a posting ban.

Once you get that update queued its too late if you go offline then, because as soon as  you launch the game it will automatically self update.

You need to get in offline mode before any queued updates then your fine.

The game cant update and then you can safely go back online once you have a patched FMRTE and safely download the latest version of the game, and then as soon as your game is patched  set steam offline again.
