    no update from the developer on this as a preset but why not try using the new added feature Retiring After Spell At Current Club for Players and Staff set the players contract to end the next day/week etc and that should do the job, he will retire as a player report back with an update if the player has career plans you can edit that so he wants to be a coach etc he should stay in the game then as a non player- try it
