'Move to club' was a dangerous feature anyway since there was a risk to damage the 'save'

Sometimes players got kinda cloned and in the game it looked like they were playing for both clubs after using it.

 

A way better option - and it is one that works well - is when you use the 'future transfers' tab and edit one of the existing ones to transfer the player from one club to the other completely with transfer fee etc.
