FMRTE when you're not hosting over a network game

Hey guys, I did a decent google/forum search however I couldn't find anything substantial.

 

I remember (I'm pretty sure) a while back that you were able to use FMRTE when you weren't hosting a network game, however I'm currently playing FM15 15.1.3 with a friend, and I can't seem to load the game and the program just stalls/hangs and never recovers.

 

I was wondering if the feature is still available or am I thinking of another program? I know FMScout was never able to and back when I was doing this, FMLive Editor wasn't around, so I'm positive it was FMRTE. Perhaps the licensed version will provide me what I'm after, as currently i'm just using the free version. I'm not looking to really change or save anything all that much, moreso looking to scout.
