...How can I turn my Steam 'off' to stop FM from updating please, chaps?

    Click Settings at the top left and there will be an option in there that restarts Steam into offline mode.

    No probs :)

     

    It is called Go Offline.  Keep Steam in that mode until FMRTE is updated to work with the new RTE version and to be on the safe side, disconnect from the internet too when it is no longer needed.
