Lads, just downloaded the program (i use on the mac, but thats nothing to do with the problem)

I wanna edit my players, I've changed a few players stats to 20, and everything works fine, their stats in the game successfully change, however within a week or 2 all my players other stats all change to 1, in attributes all the arrows are pointing down with all the other stats showing as a 1, so the players go really bad. what am i doing incorrectly please guys? i want the stats i manually enter to stay, and the other stats to stay as they are instead of going all the way to 1. any ideas?
