I'm having the same issue as well.

Just like with FMRTE19, it's a problem with whichever version of the messy .NET Framework you have (or don't have) installed and how compromised it is.

Last year I'd only solve it by rolling back to .NET 4.6.1, which is enough to make FMRTE19 work, but not good enough for FMRTE20.

You'd try to update to .NET 4.7 or 4.8, if your system can go through with the installation (mine can't, so I'm in trouble).

FMRTE 20 requires .NET Framework 4.7.2 please install it and let me know if it solved  your issue.

I feared as much... My current Windows installation really doesn't like it and there's no way to get it to install...

I know it's a long shot, but would it be impossible to make FMRTE 20 backwards compatible with 4.6.1 too?

It's not possible at the moment, we are using some things that required .NET 4.7.

I might try to help you, what kind of error do you get when you try to install .NET Framework 4.7.2?

I've checked the registry for the right Installer keys and permissions, I've tried to repair the installation with the installer itself and with the .NET Repair Kit. Both "solve" the problem until I try to reinstall (as FMRTE and plenty of other programs still don't work and crash with or without error messages). Then it fails once more, with the same code number, and I'm back to square one.

BTW, with only 4.6.1 installed, I got the same message as the OP. After a failed installation, FMRTE20 simply crashes with a white screen and "The program stopped working. Looking for solutions" Windows 7 default message.
So it's a step sideways...

Basically my current PC rejects anything newer than 4.6.1 for some reason... Good thing is I'm getting a new one soon... Still curious to find out how to solve this, as .NET is quite a popular programming tool required to run plenty of software...
